Loom (2019)
Acrylic wool, wood, cotton, polyester, elastic, nylon.
Loom is a woven piece that speaks of the process of making and the honesty of materials. To create this piece I first obtained a large amount of second hand clothing that I stripped into pieces, dyed using the natural colouring of beetroot, tied together the strips to create a new yarn and weaved this new yarn carefully together within this 2 metre by 1.5 metre loom. The resulting messy piece speaks of the laborious nature of its handmade construction and the patchily dyed object speaks of the variety of materials that make up the piece.
