Spell (2019) Wood, natural and synthetic wool.
Spell is a diptych of two woven panels, hung from thin wooden beams. The pieces are embroidered with symbols derived from witches runes, which on the first piece represent growth, creativity and necessity and on the second represent new beginnings, justice and rewards. They act as a spell that urges the acceptance of textiles as a contemporary art medium, using the iconography of witchcraft inspired by my previous collaborative piece Witches Hut.
